Chiropractic for babies
Chiropractic treatment for infants and children involves assessing for asymmetry, muscle spasm, joint dysfunction and other factors that may hinder the growth and development during the early years.
A specifically trained chiropractor is a clinician capable of delivering chiropractic care to a child in a considered and effective manner, observing at all times the clinical parameters which would require the child be referred to other health professionals where necessary. Dr Catriona McNamara and Dr. Lucinda Smith have completed a 2-year postgraduate in Chiropractic Paediatrics (over 900 hours of study). All treatment is gentle and considered.
Catriona also teaches a multidisciplinary approach to the care of infants and children and has an online course for Chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists that address the functional aspects of tongue-tie. Our Chiropractors work closely with many providers in the holistic approach to care.
Treating infants and children within the chiropractic profession is based on the principle that children are unique individuals undergoing the process of human development and not merely ‘little adults’.
