What Does a Chiropractor do?
Chiropractors are healthcare professionals who specialise in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders related to the spine, nerves and musculoskeletal system.
Evaluation and Diagnosis: Our Chiropractors at Park Road Chiropractic assess patients by taking a comprehensive health history, physical examinations, and may require referring out for diagnostic tests such as X-rays or MRI scans to determine the source of the problem.
Spinal Manipulation (Adjustment): The fundamental techniques used by chiropractors is spinal manipulation, also known as a chiropractic adjustment. This involves applying controlled force by hand to a joint of the spine or other parts of the body to improve alignment, mobility, and function. The goal is to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and restore normal joint function. Often a clicking noise is heard - this process is gentle and usually a sense of relief is felt immediately.
Manual Therapies: To reduce muscular tension, increase flexibility, and accelerate recovery, our chiropractors may also use a variety of manual therapies, which may include soft tissue release techniques, stretching exercises, and joint mobilisation procedures.
Postural and Lifestyle Counseling: To help patients manage their condition, avoid recurrence of symptoms, and preserve general health and well-being, our chiropractors frequently offer advice on ergonomics, posture, exercise, and lifestyle improvements.
